Welcome to the Summer Slime Lab!
Where Science Gets Sticky (and Fun)
Is your child obsessed with slime? At Mat-Su Learn and Inspire, we’re taking that gooey obsession and turning it into a full-blown scientific investigation!
This isn't just about making a mess (though we’ll definitely do that). This week is all about exploring the "why" behind the slime. Your campers will become official product testers, using the scientific method to observe, test, and analyze all sorts of wild textures. From polymers to non-Newtonian fluids, we’re diving deep into real-world chemistry, one batch of slime at a time.
The best part? Every single day, your scientist will create a custom masterpiece to bring home!
Our Week at a Glance
Day 1: The Scientific Method Before we get messy, we have to get smart! We’ll cover lab safety and precision measuring while designing our first experiments.
Daily Creations: Mermaid Scales, Midnight, Cloud, and Clear slimes.
Day 2: The Ultimate Stress Test How do our senses help us observe? We’re putting our slimes through a "gauntlet" of tests, including the stretch test, the bounce test, and even the "stink" test!
Daily Creations: Sherbert, Sand, Bubblegum, Strawberry Jelly, and Microbead slimes.
Day 3: Deep-Dive Chemistry We’re exploring diffusion, states of matter, and viscosity. Kids will learn how molecules behave by pouring, squeezing, and pulling their creations.
Daily Creations: Silly Putty, Fluffy, and our favorite "Liquid or Solid?" mystery—Oobleck.
Day 4: Wild, Wacky & Glowy On our final day, we’re breaking out the physics. We’ll investigate density, magnetism, and how some slimes actually change color with heat!
Daily Creations: Magnetic, Glow-in-the-Dark, Guar Gum, Color-Changing, and Avalanche slimes.
