In this exciting hands-on course, students will explore how their brains and bodies are connected through the nervous system, senses, emotions, and healthy habits. Each week, students will participate in activities designed to deepen their understanding of the human mind and personal health. Older students will have the option to complete extension activities for deeper study.

In this course, we’ll take a hands-on journey through how the mind and body work together to help us move, feel, and live well. Here's a look at the topics we'll cover:

  • The Human Mind and Nervous System: We’ll start by learning how the nervous system works like a communication highway between the brain and the body.

  • The Brain and Brain Stem: We'll dive deeper into the different parts of the brain, what they do, and why the brain stem is so important for basic life functions.

  • The Senses: We'll explore the amazing ways we interact with the world through our senses — including lessons on Eyes and Vision, Ears and Hearing, Mouth and Taste, and Smell and the Nose.

  • Memory and Emotions: We’ll look at how the brain stores memories and how emotions are tied to the way we think, act, and feel.

  • Social and Emotional Health: We'll talk about the importance of friendships, communication, managing feelings, and building strong emotional habits.

  • Connecting with Nature: We'll discover how spending time outdoors can boost our brain health and mood.

  • Healthy Habits: Finally, we’ll wrap up with a look at daily habits that keep both our minds and bodies strong, from good sleep to exercise and mindfulness.
