What We Are Learning

Each semester covers entirely different material!

Semester 1: Sky & Light

September 1st – December 8th

Students dive into the atmosphere to become "junior meteorologists." We’ll explore:

  • Weather Patterns: Forecasting, the water cycle, clouds, and storms (tornadoes, hurricanes, and lightning).

  • The Physics of Light: Shadows, rainbows, reflection, refraction, and the beauty of color.

Semester 2: Oceans & Marine Life

January 4th – April 21st

(No classes during MSBSD Spring Break)

We head underwater to discover the secrets of the sea. Students will explore:

  • Oceanography: Tides, waves, sand, seashells, and the different ocean zones.

  • Marine Biology: Life in the coral reefs, the "midnight zone," and amazing creatures like sharks and dolphins.

More Than Just Science

For our younger learners, these sessions provide a nurturing environment to practice essential classroom behaviors. While we experiment, we also work on:

  • Raising hands and waiting for a turn to speak.

  • Following multi-step directions.

  • Sharing materials and problem-solving with kind words.
